I had an episode of Status Migrainosus 18 months ago and have been on Topomax, protriptyline, and metoprolol on a daily basis since. I have been able to manage the side effects for the most part but some days the fatigue is so bad I have trouble getting out of bed. Does anyone know of a good all natural long lasting energy booster.

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!
Glad you found us and hope you find the site helpful and informative. As a single mother of just one teen, I can only imagine the exhaustion you feel being the single mom of three children
. Holding down a full time job and being a Migraineur, no wonder you are pooped!
Unfortunately, all three of the drugs you are taking (Topamax, metropolol, and protriptyline) have the potential side effect of drowsiness. And there is not an natural long lasting energy booster that I am aware of. Besides that, it really isn't the best solution to take other drugs, natural or not, to counteract unwanted side effects from the ones we already take. What may be a good idea is to talk to your doctor about your fatigue.
How many Migraine attacks are you getting a month? See here's the thing -anyone who has three or more Migraines a month needs to be talking with their doctor about prevention. There's growing evidence that Migraine is a progressive brain disease. A recent study showed that Migraines can cause brain damage, and that people with three or more Migraines a month are more susceptible to this damage. For more information, see Is Migraine a Progressive Brain Disease? and Yes, Migraines Can Cause Brain Damage.
It may be time to see a doctor that is an expert in headache medicine.
Sometimes, Migraineurs are difficult to treat and that is the time to see the expert. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists.
