Yesterday was Day #5 with a migraine. It takes a lot for me to not go to work or leave early but I did yesterday. I started calling my doctor at 10:30 in the morning and by 3:30 I still hadn't heard anything, so I called and the nurse, kind of rudely!, said "he is checking his messages now and he will call something in". Ten minutes later she called back and said to increase my Depakote and they were switching my other med to Maxxalt. She didn't even give me time to speak before she hung up! I've finally decided that it's time for me to find some sort of specialist or clinic for migraines around here (St Louis, MO). Although my doctor is actually a great doctor, he is extremely busy and hard to get into and that just doesn't work when you have a patient dealing with migraines.
Anyways! I just wanted to thank everyone for being so concerned yesterday. It is so good to finally find a place where people understand what I am going through. I am feeling a little bit better today. My head feels more uncomfortable than anything...
Yes, maybe you should check into a headache specialist. It really is important that your doctor understand you and that you become and active part in your treatment as well. We have a list of specialists here on the forum - it's on the left side of the page under "find" it's listed by state.
