I'm a 40 year old woman who has suffered with migraines off and on since I was a teen. They returned with big impact on my 29th birthday with aura only causing a big circle of "missing vision" in both eyes, I went on for a few years with migraines with and without aura and they settled down only to start up again about 3 years ago.
Three years ago, I had a horrid migraine on the left side of my head. I tried to push through it as I ususally did, until finally I just couldn't. I went to take a shower and the next thing I remember was waking up in an ambulance with my neighboor who is an EMT looking at me.
Apparently, while I was in the shower my husband left to go to the store to get me some excedrine. My 17 year old daughter and 6 month old son were at home with me. My husband returned home to find me on the floor of our bathroom, in my pajamas holding our son - unable to respond verbally and unable to use my right side, and vomiting. He called 911 and I was transported to the local hospital.
The hospital did a CT scan which showed nothing, gave me some medication to take away my headache and sent me home. Two days later I was able to get into a neurologist (believe it or not). They did every test known to man and an MRI showed what was diagnosed as a stroke.
Since that time, I have contined to have dibilitating migraines and I am unable to work. I have had several more "strokes" according to MRI's and innumerable "TIA" episodes
I failed the triptans and had a sever reaction to topamax. I have tried every drug known to man, and have settled on a huge combination that I take nightly.
Today I write this two days post headache, with a flacid right sided face and a weak right arm and leg.

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!
Goodness, what a horrible thing to have happen, and continue to have happen. So you keep getting "headaches" and weakness? Have you considered seeing a Migraine specialist? That would be my first thought. As it happens we have three wonderful doctors in MO, (which is rare because some states don't have any Migraine specialists.) You can see the patient recommended list by clicking HERE.
