    Hi Beth,

You have many people who understand your pain.  I have had migraines since 30 years old when I was pregnant for my 3rd child.  They were hormonal migraines.  I am 50 now and they are getting much lighter.  As soon as I go through menopause they should be gone.  I have been on Imitrex for many years but really got more benefit from Maxalt.  Maxalt doesn't have a rebound effect like Imitrex for me.

I had a migraine attack 8 mo's ago that was so bad t hat it cut off a small portion of my vision.  I was told I had an ishemic stroke in my eye.  Didn't realize it could be that serious but now I have this nice grey cloud in my eye from that night.

    DearBeth,

I certainly understand where you are coming from about people not understanding the severity of migraine.  It is certainly not just a little ole headache to take 2 aspirins and get over it. I do have a wonderful, supportive husband which helps tremendously.

I am 68 years old and have had migraines since I was 31.  Been to all kinds of doctors and pain clinics with no real relief.  They are now every day.  The Imitrex does help but it is not supposed to be taken daily.  None of the preventatives have helped.  My new neurologist has just done a cervical epidural yesterday.  No results yet.  I am supposed to have 2 more over the next few weeks.

Beth, I will keep you in my thoughts ad prayers.  Let's hope for a miracle.

I know how you feel, at least I have no pain.  For me the panic attack is the worst part, and I get that alot, for no reason it just happens, and it is very scary. Hope you find a medicine or something that helps you. I'm going to try reading a book and a system by Lucida Basset of the widwest center for anxiety, I hope this helps, I'll let you know.

    Hi Beth,

My name is Kristina and I've had migraines since I was about 15. I am now 28. They have gotten worse as I get older. I have had: MRIs, CTs, blood work, etc. I have been to: Neurologists, eye doctors, ear/nose/throat drs...etc. The diagnosis is that I have genetic migraines. My mother/aunt/grandmother all have migraines, but not as often as I do. I also have migraine attacks about twice a month and they last from 3 days to a week. I have been to the ER several times due to the medication not working. My neurologist started me on Gabapentin and that has helped with the daily headaches that tend to turn into the migraines and the daily headaches that occur after the migraines. You deffinately need to get to a neurologist to get test run. Hope knowing you are not alone helps and know that many of use would like to drill a small hole in our heads to help releave the pain.

    Keep your chin up!
    ~Kristina~
