Grew up in Florida so being around water is in my blood. I live in Memphis, TN for about half the year. Mold capitol of the country! My husband and I own a 38 foot sailboat which we sail on the Chesapeake Bay. Major migraine trigger. I love the boat but if feels like psychedelic sensory overload when I'm out on it. (stress, glare, wind, motion, heel, engine noise & fumes, adrenaline) I love being outdoors but can't tolerate too much heat, wind, glare, pollen, etc. At one time I lived in Arizona and took up backpacking at age 39. Have backpacked across the Grand Canyon rim to rim. May have had migraines since puberty but didn't realize what my "sinus" headaches were. In my late 30's I visited an opthomologist about pain behind my left eye. In my forties a friend pointed out to me the connection between my headaches and menstrual cycle. (drop in Estrogen) I'm in my mid-50's now and am reluctant to commit myself to outings with friends if I don't have a quick exit from the situation if I start feeling bad. A few of my major triggers are MSG, glare, fluorescent lighting, windex and other cleaners, perfume, cigarette smoke, estrogen drop during cycle, (I use a bioidentical estrogen cream) eating out, (including at my mother's) too much salt in my diet, staring at computer or t.v. screens, and weather front blowing through especially in the Spring time. I know of four consecutive generations in my family suffering from debilitating migraines.
