i was just recently prescribed treximet for my migraines. i have only taken it once and i was overwhelmed by the symptoms or i should say one symptom in particular. my neck and throat were so tight after taking this medication. i was very worried but i decided to take a nap and see if i could sleep off the symptom. when i woke up, i have to say, i felt brand new. my head was so clear and i haven't felt so good in such a long time. unfortunately, i have a horrible summer cold with a wretching cough and sinus pressure so i'm not sure if my head is pounding due to my cold or if my migraine is rearing it's ugly head. feeling as bad as i do right now i'm not so sure i can handle my neck and throat tightening up again if i take treximet to calm what i am now convinced is the beginning to my next migraine. plus, i am also on topomax and i do not want to mix cough and cold meds with this medication so i am stuck in between a rock and a hard place.

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!
Treximet is the newest triptan available to abort a Migraine. If you experience unwanted side effects please discuss them with your doctor. There are seven other triptans you can try to abort a Migraine attack, and a non-triptan drug like Midrin. Amerge, Axert, Frova, Imitrex, Maxalt, Relpax and Zomig.
Getting more than three or four Migraines a month may mean our preventive medication may need adjusting or we may need to try a new one. Topamax may not be the best Migraine prevention drug out there, but it is the one doctors and patients hear the most about because it is heavily marketed to them. Don't lose hope though, there are over 100 medications used for Migraine prevention. Click here to read: Migraine Preventive Medications - Too Many Options To Give Up!
