I'm not sure what to do w/this sharepost? I quess I will just tell my story. I am 35yo female, happily married, and have a 6yo son. I've had migraines since about 1994. Prior to my son being born they would just be the aura in which I would lose my peripheral vision to the right side and I would not be able to see the right side of someones face. These episodes were only about 2-3/yr. They progressively got worse where I would get the aura then a migraine on the opposite side of my vision loss. After the birth of my son my migraines became unmannageable, I started taking daily preventatives, but still would end up in the hospital 4-5x/yr for iv treatment. May 4th of this year, I had a basilar artery migraine which in turn caused my basilar artery to vasospasm, my husband found me on my bathroom floor in cardiopulmonary arrest. He started CPR and saved my life!! Upon arrival into the ER I was blind, could not move my left side, and my heart rate was up to 220 beats/min (afib/flutter-for any medical professionals). A very rapid rate and abnormal rhythm. This happened on a Sun and I did not gain my awareness until tues am. Although everyone had been saying I had been awake, but would look like a blank screen, I asked the same questions over and over. Once I was "awake" again I was horrified @ what had happended. Luckily I was in the ICU that I work at and knew my surroundings. After all the specialist were finished, I was told that my heart episode and my migraine episode were two seperate events that just happended to happen @ the same time. So now there is that fear that this could always happen again. The medicine I would use prior to this event was DHE to break my migraines/chronic daily headaches but now I can no longer use it because it is a potent vasoconstrictor, and we can't take the chance of the basilar artery vasospasming again!!! My doctors have made some med changes, but I have a headache almost daily, sometimes to the point of being in bed all day!! I want relief and I want to be a strong mom/wife again!!

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!
What a scary episode to have. DHE-45 can have the potential side effect of cardiac issues. but they usually occur very soon after using the DHE. How far apart did you take DHE and then have your episode?
It sounds like it may be time to see a Migraine/Headache specialist. We have a patient recommended list you can see HERE.
