In my last post we were 35 weeks pregnant and very worried about our baby. We had so many complications during the pregnancy we just didn't know how things were going to turn out. On July 24, 2008 at 4:04pm we welcomed a perfect baby girl into the world. Mya Ann arrived at 7lbs 11oz and 20 inches long. I thank God for giving me this little miracle.
On the subject of migraines, I am still having migraines 2-3 times a week. That ends up being every day because one migraine usually last a couple days. I am off almost all my medications except for the occasional Percocet and Fioricet. I am breastfeeding so I am trying to limit any unnecessary medications. I have a neurology appointment with a new doctor this Thursday so I am hoping that he has some great ideas as far as prevention and management. If any one is breastfeeding and knows of safe medications please let me know. Thank you to all who wished us well.

What wonderful news. Thank you so much for letting us know about the new addition to your family.
We have a few Ask the Clinician questions regarding breastfeeding and Migraine medications you may find helpful. You can see them HERE. There was also an FDA warning last year about the use of codeine when breastfeeding: Use of Codeine In Breastfeeding Mothers May Lead To Life-Threatening Side Effects For Baby
As we always say, please discuss these things with your doctor, and then make the best decision for you and your baby.
Keep us posted, ok?
