About Me

Hello all, I have been suffering from migraines since I was a young girl. My menstrual cycle seemed to be the culprit so I decided that I would just deal with them and plan for the pain. At 18 years old I joined the Air Force and strived. I would still have my usual day long migraine during my period, but managed. After a 7 month deployment to Iraq I came home with PTSD, fibromyalsia, and almost daily severe migraines. My doctors and I tried every possible migraine medication and anti-depressant preventative available. At least once a month I would be admitted to the ER to receive IV fluids and a cocktail of everything from Tylenol #3 to morphine. I would receive my medications and my wonderful husband would drive me home and pour me into bed until my migraine med coma wore off. Due to my frequent visits to the ER and doctors for my various problems I decided to separate from the Air Force. After separation I was given a very promising position with a computer company. I worked through my pain most days, but had to visit the doctor for pain injections about once every two weeks. Needless to say being a new employee this was not acceptable. My doctors placed me on short term disability due to the chronic pain and depression that I had developed. I have been on disability since February 2007. At times my life doesn't seem worth living due to all the pain. I now have almost daily debilitating migraines and body pain. For many months (Feb 07 - Aug 07) I spent most of my time in bed or at the hospital. My daughter who was 4 at the time seemed to grow up without me and my husband began to resent me. He had to bare my load and his along with being the sole income for our family. In Aug 07 something changed, I had fewer, milder migraines. This lasted until October 07. The end of October my husband and I found out that we were expecting our 2nd child. This in no way was planned due to my health. But a blessing none the less we embraced the news and started planning for our new baby. November 07 my migraines returned with a vengeance. I am now in my third trimester and my migraines have never been worse. I have been on almost every pain medication that is safe during pregnancy and have started steroids and a beta-blocker to try and prevent the terrible pain. If I am lucky I have 2 good days a week where I don't have to be in bed. Thanks for reading and I will keep you updated.
