THIS WAR IS MINE

It has an impact on life like you wouldn't believe,
Praying "please not today",
But you have no power to stop it,
When you feel one's on it's way.
That feeling in the pit of your stomach,
Knowing what you're going to go through,
Hoping it won't be a bad one,
Wishing it wasn't you.
The flashing lights, the sickening feeling,
The numbness and fuzzy head,
Can't see, can't walk, you have no choice,
But to retire straight to bed.
Sometimes hours, sometimes days,
The pain will linger on,
Every minute of every hour,
Just wishing it were gone.
But when that fog is lifted,
You feel a sense of relief,
But what follows is often worse,
That fear hidden underneath.
You wonder if you'll ever feel normal,
Be able to live your life,
Can you really suffer from migraines,
And be a good mother and wife?
But with the right help and support,
You can get through it all and more,
We might have lost this battle,
But one day we'll win the war!
