So, for those who have read my last share posts you know that I decided it was time to start over with new doctors, a new primary doctor and a new neurologist. I also took the step to apply for unemployment since I was fired in July due to my migraines. I do like my new primary doctor. I made him the primary for the rest of my family!! My new neurologist changed up my meds...of course, I am back on gabapentin (so I can sleep better). I have not slept through the night in a few years. He also doubled my topomax. I used to take that amount so he wasn't worried about the side affects. He changed my zoloft to prozac. However I am curious as to why he asked me why I was taking zoloft? I have had a real bad time with nausea so he gave me nexium as well. Follow up in 6 weeks. Call as needed. He does want me to make the changes in meds slowly. When I increased the gabapentin to two at night (along with the ambien CR) that was when I actually slept through the night! YEAH!! Interestingly though, around 1:00 in the afternoon I get so sleepy I feel like I took a sleeping pill. I thought it was just something I ate or how I was feeling that one day but it has happened every day since I started taking that amount. I will have to call the doc. I think one of the new meds may need to be taken at night instead of in the morning. So on the unemployment front....probably isn't going to happen. My employer is saying that I had a return to work letter from my doctor but then called in sick so they don't think I should get it. See I worked three 12 hour days so for example I could have a doctors note but wasn't scheduled to work until three days later. The doctor was changing my meds, I was getting no pain meds. Putting all that together the chances of me having a migraine on the next scheduled day was high. I tried telling my old neuro this but he was unsympathetic. Also, in order to get unemployment you must be able and available for work. There was paperwork for my old neuro to fill out. When asked for return to work date he answered "undetermined". They also asked for anything that would hinder my ability to return to work and his answer was something about taking a lighter workload and not working around heavy equipment. Not once did he tell me that during his treatment of me. I feel ambushed. Every turn I make I hit a wall. Anyway, it's very frustrating because the very little they would have given my large family is so needed at this time. We will be out of our savings in two months the way things are going. I don't know what we will do at that time. How do we afford the extra medical bills? Well, time to clean before bed. Hope everyone sleeps good tonight!!

Well, I'm glad to hear things are working out with your new doctor. Can he assist you with your employment issues? I assume the "old" doctor is the one your employer got the 'back to work letter' from.....maybe if you talk with him, and he sounds pretty understanding, you can come up with something. Worth a try at least.
Let us know, ok?
