Another Human Resource Training for FMLA

They are trying to make it as hard as possible for employees who really need FMLA to use it! This is from HR Daily Advisor website.

How to Halt 'Pattern Absence' Abuse Under FMLA
Topic: Leave Policy/Compliance

Once employees are certified for intermittent FMLA, the Monday-Friday absence pattern begins, and there's nothing you can do, right? Not so, says HR Manager Barbara Dahlen.

Employers, FMLA, and Migraines

I get so angry everytime I read a story like this. Better information needs to be given to employers and better training for human resource employees as well as managers and supervisors so they don't assume everyone is abusing intermittant leave. For them to supposedly "fix the problem", the policies they put into place can make family life so difficult for employees who don't abuse the system but truely do need intermittant leave. My...

New Doctors

Ok sooooo, I saw a new neurologist, Dr Merkey, and I took the big step to see a psychiatrist. I was avoiding the second one for a long. Since depression and migraines are comorbid, meaning that they are interrelated I was hoping the neurologist/headache specialist I saw would alleviate some of my pain and in turn some of the depression would go away. He did give me antidepression meds at the same time though.

If you have read through my...

Latest on living with it!

So, for those who have read my last share posts you know that I decided it was time to start over with new doctors, a new primary doctor and a new neurologist. I also took the step to apply for unemployment since I was fired in July due to my migraines. I do like my new primary doctor. I made him the primary for the rest of my family!! My new neurologist changed up my meds...of course, I am back on gabapentin (so I can sleep better). I have not...

New Doctor

Yesterday I met my new primary care doctor who will have to refer me to any and all specialists. He took his time learning my history, used a computer notebook with other doctor's test results I had brought already scanned in to talk to me about. All and all I think it was a successful first visit....I think I will keep him! I also made an appointment to see a new neurologist for the 23rd of this month. I would also like to say that I had a...

New Symptoms

I already put this in the question section but I am going to put it here for me. So I started having new symptoms a few weeks ago. I can't ever get in to see my neurologist/headache specialist Dr. Couch, in fact the next available appt is in October. I was driving with my daughter in the car last Sunday and two of the symptoms were bad...I started shaking, you know inside-not real noticeable outward, and my vision was real blurry. I was...

Still fighting the fight!

I have spent over a month trying to tell my story to different doctors and lawyers to:

      1. get better care and
      2. fight for my employment rights that I feel were violated.

It is so frustrating when professionals don't call back. It makes one wonder if the case is not valid or strong enough to make it worth their time. Wouldn't they tell you if they didn't think...

I have to jump through hoops just to keep my job because of my migraines...whatelse?

I have recently been at odds with my employer because of my migraines. I have had migraines for 15years. Over the past year they have been worse because my preventative meds stopped working. I changed to a new neurologist took me off neurantin and started to take me off topomax (could only go down to half), he put me on doxepin. For preventative, not too bad but when I get a severe migraine I do not have good pain...
