I am new to this forum and thought I would introduce myself. My name is Tatayana, friends call me Tanya. I have been living with migraines since I was 17 after a car accident. I just started taking Topamax 4 days ego, 25 to 50 mg before bed. I have been been doing a lot of reading on the drug and have some questions. It seems to have a lot of side effects, some good, some not so good :). So far I haven't experienced any side effects at all, maybe some loss of appetite, which is not a bad thing. Can someone tell me when the bad side effects show themselves...LOL. Like memory loss and being a little stupid..hahaha. I have read where they call the drug perfect super mpdel drug...makes you skinny and stupid, not funny, I know. Sorry. I am not a big girl, but could stand to lose a few pounds, but can't afford to lose any brain cells due to the nature of my work. Any advice and/or or help would be appriciated. Thanks and I am glad to have found this site. Looking forward to getting to know everyone.
Tanya

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!
An important word on side effects. They are potential, meaning the side effects listed may not happen to everyone. This is really important because we can get caught up in reading all the side effects and then waiting for them to happen. If all the potential side effects happened to everyone all the time, the FDA would never be able to approved new drugs.
Topamax works wonders for many people. For others it doesn't work out so well. It is a drug you hear a lot about because it is heavily advertised to patients and doctors. This doesn't mean it is the best choice for Migraine prevention, just one option. We have a lot of important information on Topamax you can see by clicking HERE.
