Some relief from the new meds

By Mr Wonderfuls wife Tuesday, December 18, 2007

The Effexor XR seems to be helping some with the bluesie cranky mood. Also I have been able to sleep much better. Only waking up once or twice for a short period of time. Not the 2-4 hours at a time I'm use to. When I get up I feel rested and energized! As far as the migraines go I'm still having 2-3 per week. Next week I am increasing the effexor to 150 mg. Hopefully that will do the trick.

I need to learn to pace myself with this new found energy because I know that over doing it with physical activity always brings on a mig.

Today has started out kind of rough. Woke up feeling good BUT my vision is blurred and thought processes are somewhat jumbled. Have taken my Imetrex and keeping my fingers crossed that it will work today.

I guess it is better to have it today than later in the week. With a little luck I will be able to start my Christmas baking on Friday. Christmas dinner is big with my family and the dessets are the main attraction...lol. Everyone has put in their request! My brother wants peanut butter fudge...mama wants a pumpkin roll with cream cheese filling...daddy wants a french coconut pie...sister wants butternut ball cookies...my baby boy wants sausage balls and hubby wants peanut butter kisses cookies and sweet potato pie. Then my nephews and niece want a Santa Claus cake. Then there is sweet potato casserole, mixed greens, pintos and sour cream biscuits.

As you can see I have my work cut out for me! So say a little prayer for me. Make that a HUGE prayer! This is much too important to miss out on.

Hope everyone is having a great day! Take care!

Anita

Merry Christmas!

Hi Anita!

I'm glad the Effexor is having a positive effect for you!  I take it too as one of my preventatives.  Be careful not to miss a dose--you might get the "brain-zaps!"  (It's a weird feeling like your head is "blipping"--I can't really describe it, but you'll know it if you experience it!).  Effexor XR is a medication that's hard to come off of...the doctors take it away from you in VERY small increments, because your body really does become dependent on it.  You can get really sick if you just stop taking it all at once....

Anyway, you must be out of your mind--baking all of that stuff when you're not feeling well!!!Wacko  Just kidding...but you may want to think about simplifying things a little!  You want to be able to enjoy Christmas with your family, not feel sick from doing all that work!  (Just looking out for you!!Innocent

My family all come to my house for Christmas dinner.  But I'm gone all day visiting my in-laws, so I can't be home cooking.  We have a Christmas tradition of making home-made pizza and salad!  (Can't get any easier than that!)  If someone feels motivated, we may have ham too.  But I make just one dessert and tell the family they'll all have to eat it or go without!  It's actually kinda fun...an easy dinner that lets me sit with the family and enjoy the day, rather than slaving in the kitchen!!!

I hope your Imitrex worked today!  Happy baking!!

Hey Jenny! Thanks for caring! You are so sweet!Innocent

I'm very careful not to miss doses of any meds. This old girl hates migraines! And I have more than enough of them with the meds. The imetrex did hold off the migraine for several hours. But it is back again! My son was a great source of worry and stress today so that didn't help. He told me he has been having groin pain for about 3 weeks now and he was ready to go to the doc. Anyway, he has a hernia. My son wants to wait 'til summer to have surgery. The doc said as long as the pain doesn't worsen and he refrains from heavy lifting we can wait 'til summer. The boy is going to be the death of me...lol! I spent my b-day at the hospital this year with him. He had another kidney stone and had to have a stint put in. He has a history of stones. Isn't it bad enough to have to worry about normal teenage things like driving, school and dating?

As far as baking goes it is something I love to do. I take my time and neglect everything esle. The house is a disaster by the time I'm through. At least this year hubby will be home from Sat. - Wed. He doesn't know it yet but he will be my maid...lol.Grin

Take care hun!

By the way that does sound like a very easy way to handle dinner. I think my family would go on strike if I tried that...lol.

I'm sorry to hear about your son!Sad  Over at the discussion forum, angelb posted about her son's hernia surgery.  (It's in the "Personal, Off-topic, Jokes, etc. board.)  You may want to check it out!!  (You may even be able to ask her a few questions so you know what to expect!)

Hi Anita,

I know we had some conversation a while back in my post about my son's hernia operation and I've been thinking about you and your son recently.  How have you guys been doing?  Have you scheduled your son's hernia surgery?  Do you have any questions?  My son has been doing great since his surgery in December.  I hope all is well with both of you.

Take care,

Pam
