Last night

By Jamie Friday, July 20, 2007

Last night was one of the worst of nights (perhaps it counts for two)

But you were right there near me, wondering and asking what to do.

When everything went wrong-

the toilet sang its' by now familiar song- but you gave it a different refrain.

told it it was irrelevant in our lives.

there are somethings you don't want to remember.

the muscles weak as you helped me off the floor,

and together we walked through the bedroom door.

I never felt a sky as blue as the one that's dawned (unfortunately) gray.

And as you beat your foe with your team- you still had many comforting words and deeds for me that you did walk over to where I was just to say.

Later I cheered for you as you told me of your feat.

And thought about our own adventure- and of the "yuck's" retreat.

I'm feeling better today- and you should know-

it's only 'cause of your love and affection that I feel so.

And for the million times my voice did not say "thank you, dear"

(It may have been too raspy for you to hear.)

And for the one time I remembered to say thanks (outloud) for running to the store

I want to tell you to know how many more

I should have remembered to say outloud.

Thank you, dear sleeping one.

Thank you, dear love.

Thank you for all of your innovations, creations, and... Wow- we even did get through last night.

I hope those words (although late) are just right.
