Migraines and Biofeedback

By Missy Morgan, Health Guide Thursday, January 27, 2011

Today we (my husband and I) met with a new doctor my Migraine specialist referred me to. She works in the same clinic as my Migraine specialist. This new doctor is a neuropsychologist. I was told I would be learning about biofeedback from her.

This was our first visit.  We were with her for about an hour. She asked A LOT of questions about me. That was a little weird. These weren’t the normal “Migraine doctor appointment” questions. These were questions such as, “what do you do for fun?;” “how stressed are you on a scale of 1 to 10 on most days?;” “what are the biggest stressors in your life?;” along with many others.

I was really impressed with this new doctor. She has a very calming presence about her. Her voice is one of those that would be excellent on a guided relaxation tape. She seems very knowledgeable and is very friendly. I enjoyed talking with her. We talked about self talk and stress and choosing to think more positively.

I am really excited about being her patient. I’ve wanted to learn more about biofeedback since I was diagnosed with Chronic Migraine. The plan is to meet with her weekly for the next 4 to 6 weeks. She said she really thinks she can help me. I think she can help me too.  I am very hopeful and excited. I will keep you posted.
