Daily Fret

By Snickers Tuesday, April 01, 2008

I need chocolate.
It helps with the stress.
Unfortunately, it makes me regress.

Don't eat this.
Don't drink that.
Or I'll risk another attack.

Watch the weather.
Watch all sleep.
It's what's best for my upkeep.

Lots of water keeps hydration.
Sunglasses now for all year round,
And don't forget to lower the sound.

Try this new doc.
Try that old med.
Maybe they will help my head.

Can't take some meds too often.
To abort the constant pain.
Else MOH may steal, all that I did gain.

Intense exercise not always swell.
What is that I do smell?
Enough perfume to make me yell!

Oh no, it's coming.
Something's not right.
Now begins my struggling fight.

Look at this!
Did you see that?
The visual signs of a brand new attack.

Good bye for now.
Not off to play.
Don't want to lose, yet another whole day.

Hello Snickers

This truly helps the understanding of the thought processes involved in migraine illness. It's a second by second ordeal almost. I'm so sorry.

I am 59 years old (as of next week), and I just wanted to share that I had migraine disorder up until my mid-forties. Our youngest son was still in college back then (in the mid-90's) and going to school in Minnesota (we're Iowan). I remember going up for one of his basketball games and ending up in the ER for emergency relief instead, for the last one.

For whatever reasons, I am now virtually migraine free. I do have headaches on occasion, but nothing like the abject pain I experienced back then. I say this only to possibly bring you and anyone who is suffering a glimmer of hope. Things can change in a moment, and I hope that you and everyone dealing with this terrible pain can latch onto that little shaft of light in the midst of the darkness.

God Speed,

linda

Hello Linda -

First of all I have to say Congratulations on being virtually migraine free! That's so terrific for you! I've never written anything before, but this gives a good indication of what my thought process is and things I need to do to try to avoid a migraine almost on a daily basis. As you know, so much is always going through our minds even when we don't have a migraine so we don't get one.    -  Snickers

Hi Snickers - You really captured the daily ongoing dilemma.  I could almost hear it as a song!  Thanks for your creativity.

Hello Megan -

Thank you for your comments. This really is a daily struggle - not to get a migraine! I've checked out your website and it looks pretty interesting. I'm really curious to see the weirdest trigger ever. Mine are just plenty of the normal ones.    -  Snickers
