LOST AND HURTING

By Kimberly Fancher Wednesday, July 11, 2007
My name is Kim and im 32 and have been living with migraines for 5yrs now. It all started after a fall and I hit my head, they havent stopped since. Daily I fight with even just a minor headache then to points of explosive migraines. I have seen every kind of doctor possible with no help at the end. Every medicine has been tried to the point to being called a narcotic addict and a medical abuser. ER trips day and night, passing out cause the pain is so bad and im treated like trash by the doctors, even my own at times. I feel so alone and not believed by the medical feild. My doctor has me looking for nero. doctors and I feel he has just dropped the ball. In "06" I was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor and they say that has nothing to do with the migrianes but yet everyone I talk to says they have the same symptoms. On top of that I have a rare blood disease called May-Thurner Syndrom, which is a blood clotting disorder. I dont know where else to turn. It got so bad at one time with the doctors calling me a narcotic addict infront of my son and everyone in the ER that I came home and tried to commit suicide. I have over come the issue of the abuse they give me and have learned some coping skills I do at home. I will feel like im dieing before I go to the ER. I cant call my doctor, he is never on call and the doctors that are on call tell me to go to the ER. Its a no win situation with me. If anyone has any advice or any information that might help please send it to me. I want out of this "hell" I live in. Please dont think that I dont have a positive side of my life. I have a wonderful husband who has stood by me through all of this and 6 wonderful children that I love and adore. I want my life back, even just some of it, so I can live happily with them and enjoy what GOD has given me. Thanks and GOD BLESS Kim

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!

Thank you for creating a SharePost. I am so sorry to hear you are hurting so much. Your story sounds a little similar to mine in that I fell, hit my head and haven't been the same since. Let me get some technical stuff out of the way, then I'll see what I can do to help out. SharePosts are a form of blogging, and there are many things you can do with them. You can share an experience, suggest something that's helped you, use SharePosts as a Migraine and headache journal, and many other things.

It has been almost 10 years since my fall. In that time I have seen SO many doctors, at times it has brought me to the brink, where you are. Finding a great place like this, to get support, is what really helped me. Learning all I could about Migraine disease and headache is what turned everything around. It didn't happen overnight, but it did happen.

The first thing I would suggest is to find a new doctor who will work WITH you in finding some answers to you health care needs. Your relationship with your doctor needs to be a partnership. Big Grin It sounds like your PCP isn't listening, so "fire his sorry butt". That is an expression used frequently around here. Then you can find a headache specialist who WILL find a preventive plan that works for you to reduce your daily head pain. NO ONE should suffer every day with pain. You seemed to have moved into a chronic pain situation which needs to be addressed. Taking care of the root of the problem, not covering it up will make all the difference. No one needs the aggrevation of verbal abuse about drug seeking behavior when all they want is the pain to go away. Click here for Migraine/Headache Specialists:

If you have a pituitary tumor, that needs to be taken care of one way or the other. Time for an endocrinologist. Headache, I believe, can be one of the many symptoms of pituitary disorders. Since you have a complicated health history, maybe your current PCP is a bit over his head. About 6 of mine were! I finally found one who has stepped up to the plate and helped me alot.

We also have a discussion forum that you may want to check out. This is a wonderful spot for direct converstation, unlike SharePosts, you get responses in the forum and some very lively topices.
