I have been living with Migraines since I was 10 years old, nearly 30 years. In the past year, they are becoming more frequest, full blown migraine at least 2 times a week, with pain daily.
Yesterday, March 28, I visited with my Dr yet again to find some regiment. He again, thought I was just having a headache, he would not even listen to my symptoms. He in the past has given me a hypo shot, but I cannot function after I get one and need to function. fianlly, after me breakng down in tears, prescribed me AmbrienCR, because he thinks the "headaches" are from lack of sleep. I do not sleep because of the pain.
He did also prescribe a new(?) med, Frova to maybe help with the pain.
After returning home, I checked the side effects of this med and discovered if a person had a stroke, then this may not be a good choice for them. I had a stroke when I was 30 years old.
I am so depressed because of the pain, so tired of the pain. I am in hopes of finding a Dr near me (IOWA ILLINOIS or MISSOURI) that will listen to me and understand.

I wonder if it's time to change doctors? If it's not possible to change doctors due to where you live, then I'd consider this - get a small spiral notebook just for the purpose of logging your headaches. Keep very detailed notes. Include date, time, where you were, what you were doing when it started, what your symptoms were, what meds you took to try and stop it, and what effect they had. Use one page for each incident, which is why I say to use one of the smaller (like 5x7) notebooks, as a full size one may be too big, certainly not practical to tote around. With an accurate set of notes about what's been going on on paper, maybe the doctor would have a harder time ignoring you.
Have you asked for a referral to a neurologist to have someone else look at the situation? I would simply ask for a referral for a consult, and let the specialist determine if there's really an issue. It's your right to have a second opinion. I presume you have insurance, and if your doctor won't refer you, contact your insurance company and ask them for a referral under your right to a second opinion, which can be done directly through your insurance, without your doctor's consent.
If you've had a stroke in the past, I presume you've a cardiologist. Contact them, and ask their nurse to check and see if they have any recommendations regarding any migraine meds you should not take, tell them your doctor is looking to have you try some for the headaches you've been having. They should be able to tell you if there are any that they think you should avoid, given your history.
Mine cleared me for trying any of them, now that I'm over a year past the ablation procedure for the electrical arrythmia I had pop up. Yeah, I read the cardiac risk stuff on most of them, and that made me worry too, given that I'd had an electrical glitch with my ticker pop up out of nowhere at age 35, nearly 2 yrs ago, which was apparently a genetic landmine I knew nothing about, which might have never gone off, but did, freaking me out, when my heart locked at 195 bpm. Talk about scary!
