You creep up on me in the dark

When I'm curled and sleeping

And jolt me awake with a bang

I can't endure

You're not my friend.

You follow me to my car and just

When I am happy with my sweetheart

At lunch you karate chop my neck

And I have to leave without a word.

You're not my friend.

The play is about to begin

The lights have dimmed

The tickets were fifty dollars

I have waited so long for this night

My head explodes into god-awful pain

I wind my way outside to go home.

You're not my friend.

You came into my life when I was a youth,

So many years ago, an uninvited guest.

You lurk, waiting to pounce at any moment

With unbearable pain.

I have tried to live the good life, petting you

With good foods, medicines, all the things

You might need - but nothing pleases you.

Now I must find a way to put a

Final end to you - for you are the enemy

That lives inside me, always taunting.

You're not my friend.

You are so right.  Migraines are not our friends...thankfully we have friends to get us through them!
