After trying a few, I'm now taking a daily dose of Zonegran with some success, but have notice a new set of symptoms after a migraine attack and was wondering if anyone had any advi...

hello, I hope I can answer your question. I have alot a migraines too. I have had them since birth. I take a Imitrex nasal spray at onset. If I feel my migrainenis going to be very bad, I go ahead and take the imitrex injection. They both are really helpful. You can actually feel the headache passing. Imitrex usually makes me sleepy. I used to take a daily preventative called Topamax. I don't take it anymore because, I became immune to it. I don't need the prevenative at this time. I will need some other kind of preventative in the future. My body has always worked that way. I have tried the medication you take. They did not work for me. It was like drinking a glass of water. In other words, the medicine did not phase my migraines. It also helps me to sit directly in front of a fan. Doing that makes me feel more comfortable. I hope I have helped you. If you want to chat or ask more questions please, feel free to contact me anytime. Have a great week. Oh yeah, Prayer ALWAYS helps!

    Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!

The fourth and last phase of a Migraine is called postdrome. People who experience this may feel lethargic, run down, depressed, sad, unable to concentrate and on the other end of the extreme - very happy. These feelings can last up to 48 hours. But if they have never occured before it is always a good idea to discuss them with your doctor.

I'm glad to hear that you have fewer Migraines, but 2 a week is still too many. Three or more a month, and we need to have a conversation with our doctor about Migraine prevention. There's growing evidence that Migraine is a progressive brain disease. A recent study showed that Migraines can cause brain damage, and that people with three or more Migraines a month are more susceptible to this damage. For more information, see Is Migraine a Progressive Brain Disease? and Yes, Migraines Can Cause Brain Damage.

Now, I'm not telling you this to freak you out, just how important an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan is. If your doctor isn't able to help you, it may well be time to consult a Migraine and headache specialist. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.
