THE RELEASE

Enduring the pain has been too much

I have wrestled the pounding far too long.

The lack of sleep and inability to focus

As taken the joy from each new day.

Finally broken and beat

I go for the drug, you know the one

That knocks you out for hours on end,

Days pass you by as you sleep them away.

When I awake I am renewed.

With no pain, no suffering to endure that day,

The missed days with family I can not recover

But grasping the future I do eagerly.

Knowing not far down the road

I will again lose the battle of the pain

And lose the hours or days.

I cherish the time I have with my family

Before the pounding begins

I live the days with joy and thankfulness
