I had my first migraine Febuary 28, 2009. I woke up one morning and notice one side (right) of my face was numb. Since there is a history of stroke in my family, I found very alarming. I call my ex-husband and told him I didn't feel right. He offered to take me to the hospital. I thoght maybe i just slept wrong. I went to work and it got worst. The numbness spend to my arm then my leg. My co-worker called the company medical department. They felt i need to go to the ER. There they told me i was experincing a migraine without pain. I have never one before. The ER doctor said just take the rest of my day off. He also added It could just be stress. Well I went home thinking I love my job. how could i be stressed? A few days later I woke with I thought to be a sleep headache. I was very tired as though i had not gotten any sleep. At work, was pretty normal except everytime I stood up my head would hurt to point of passing out. I thought this weekend I going to see a doctor. That Saturday, I went to the ER. They ran the standard test. Then the doctor came into the room with grim look. He told me they need to do a CT scan and spinal tap. That scared me. I began to cry as my family circled around me. I was admitted to the hospital for Meningitis. I was given all kinds of meds. Some made me sick. Others made sleep. After 2 1/2 months I returned to work. I was given meds for my migraines. Now dealing with weak right side. I've been referred to a Physical Therapies for weak muscles. It's been a long road to recovery. I have my good days and bad managing my migraines.
