About Me

I am the mother of a 14 year old migraine sufferer, Andrew. He started having migraines at age 5. In November 2006, Andrew got a severe migraine that wouldn't go away no matter what we did. I didn't think it was a migraine. I didn't even know that a migraine could last so long. We saw our pediatrician. He gave Andrew a lot of pain meds that week. He also gave us zomig to try. Nothing helped that migraine. He ordered an MRI and bloodwork which came back normal. Since then we have been to numerous doctors. We are currently seeing a doctor at Jefferson Headache Center.

We have tried massage, chiropractic, biofeedback and the low tyramine diet. We have not found any food triggers. Change in sleep cycle is definitely a trigger for him.

Andrew does very well in school and is a good athlete. He plays soccer, baseball and cross country. We had to take him out of school in February at the recommendation of the doctor. He goes in for an hour a day for "tutoring". He plays sports when he doesn't have a migraine. Andrew is holding up extremely well considering all that he has had to endure over the past few months.
