QUOTE---MUST READ

By Chelsea Friday, February 15, 2008

I was researching my new med, maxalt, and I came upon this quote--i know I appreciate it, i hope others do also!!

"A migraine is like a tornado.  It attacks fast, usually without warning, and wreaks havoc regardless of what's going on in your life at that moment."

Stephen Silberstein, M.D., Director of the Jefferson Headache Clinic in Philadelphia

I tried maxalt for the first time today. WOW.  The throbbing pain in my left temple is down to a 2 and I can actually open my eyes completely without wincing at the light....The med is quick acting and seems to be somewhat successful.  It is a type of med that I can only take 2 in 24 hrs and 4 in a week, so we will see how successful it really is.

wish me luck!

Good to hear that you got such quick results from the Maxalt!

As for the Dr.Silberstein quote - he is a doctor who really does "get it" when it comes to migraine disease.

Have you read Living Well with Migraine Disease and Headaches by Teri Robert ? It's a great read and very informative! It has become my Bible!

Good luck with the Maxalt!

That's great news, Chelsea!  It's terrific when an abortive med works that well!!

Thanks for the Silberstein quote!

Congrats with the Maxalt! I've had more success with other triptans. I'm SO glad you're getting the relief a triptan can give you.

I've often had to take two doses of a triptan to get the best relief it's going to give me. I'd go for it if my symptoms weren't gone by the time I could take another dose.

I hope you become a poster child for Maxalt success. And remember, if it doesn't continue to be great, there are 6 other triptans.

Hey Chelsea, my name is Shea and I'm doing my Senior Project on migraines, and I was going to use your quote but in order to do so I would need your last name for citation. Think you can help me out?? Btw I love the quote, I experience migraines myself.
