First Migraine in over a week.......

By Chelsea Monday, April 07, 2008

So now, today is the first time in 10days I have had a MIGRAINE.  I woke about 6am with throbbing in my Right temple into the low backside of my head (it felt like if someone could karate chop my neck at the base of my skull it would release all that hurtful pressure!).  I would rate the pain as a 7-8.  I was able to get up out of bed and start getting ready for work, but I had to move slower---which in turn made me late for work adding stress to the already building migraine.  I took a maxalt and made it to work--physically anyways.  Half hour into work and I started vomiting from the nausea---I had to leave work, zoom home and grab my phrenegan along with maxalt, fiorcet, and advil cold and sinus (you'd think I had a pharmacy in my purse if I ever dumped it out!!).  The sad and embarassing part of this story was that I had barely pulled into my driveway when I started vomiting again.  I made a mess of my car, myself including my work uniform--after cleaning up everything including myself I was offically gone from the office for an hour--then trying to explain and apologize to my boss-more stress Embarassed !!  I made it back to work, and the phrenegan finally started kicking in.  I was able to keep down half a plain bagel---taking 2 fiorcet, 1/2 phrenegan.  (I had wanted to take another maxalt, but my migraine had progressed so far that I wasn't sure it would work the way it was supposed--and the fact is that I only have 9 packets of maxalt to last me until I see another neurologist.  battle of the medications!!! I hope you understand what I mean!!)About a half hour after that I still had a lot of sinus pain around my eyes/cheeks/into the sinuses by my temples/etc. so I took 1 full dose of advil cold and sinus----and WHAM!! my headache went from being a 8-9 to barely a 2!!!

Finally success!! The headache is not gone, but I'm functioning!!! and I can make it through the work day!! Blush

Now, one last question---does anyone have any ideas on how I could get some financial help?? I do not have RX coverage with my insurance and I'm worried about how I'm going to afford all of my meds---along with a new doctor??? I live on my own, support myself---but I just can't seem to stay caught up on my medical bills--let alone start taking a new doctor.....

I do know that I need a neurologist ASAP.  the problem I keep running into is the cost of everything!! I could go see another neurologist in my area but he is out of network provider so I would have to pay everything up front and wait for reimbursement.---when the first visit is close to $350, and you live paycheck to paycheck---with missing tons of work because of my headaches----its hard to plan an extra $400 into the budget!! know what I mean?

Thanks for listening/reading...hope things are going well for all of you
