A headache or a migraine???

Thanks for replying Denise. I don't know how you cope daily, weekly is enough for me! I just wish these softies who profess to have a migraine when all it is, is a bad headache, could have just one migraine. Then they'd understand.

Yes. I know. I had a boss that kept saying, "I understand." but she didn't. I ended up quitting my job, because she was such a "B" and she wrote me up for, my "job performance." So I ended up resigning. I didn't want to, but I was to the point, that everyday was such a struggle to get out of bed and go to work.  I'm much better now, being home. I still get migraines, but I can control them a little better now. Sometimes, nothing helps, so have to go get shots at my doctor's office. It gets so old!

Several "friends" say that too it makes me want to slap them but thats awful about your boss! Over here they're not allowed to give a bad reference, it may be the same over the pond, I don't know.

I've never thought of going to the doctors or A&E when I have one, I just can't stir out of bed or very far at least. They scare me sometimes I have to admit and I'm hoping that my neurosurgeon may operate on the discs in my neck which in turn may alleviate the pain!

So do you have herniated discs? Mine are bulging discs, and one report read herniated. So I don't know. However, I went to 2 Neurologists, and they both sent me to PT. for the 2nd time. So I go for another MRI in March(because I have no insurance, I have to wait). Then, a Orthopedic Surgeon will look at that. He is the only one that said, come back in a few years, if you still have the pain.....then we will talk about surgery. So I've had over 20 chiropractic visits(never again) and PT, and went to Pain Mgmt doctor for Trigger point injections. I've also had Facet injections. They are like epidurals, outpatient. All this, and I'm still in pain with my neck. So I'm kind of scared, but I think if this doc wants to do surgery,( I hear he is good) then I will probably do it.

    I woke up with a stiff and sore neck and my shoulder hurt so bad last night, I could cry. I put Bio-freeze on it, that helps some. Well, it's nice chatting with ya.  Hope you are having a good day!

Yes I do. I have two herniated discs in my neck pressing on nerves in my arm and head. I had an MRI scan in August and am awaiting the outcome of that. If the discs are more prominent than they were in my last scan a couple of years ago (and I think they are as the pain in my arm is much worse as are my migraines) then I think that he will operate. I trust him implicitly though and will try anything to get rid of this pain.

I had facet joint injections in the base of my spine (I have several discs out all the way up) and NEVER, ever again! The pain was worse than the actual disc slipping out in the beginning!

I have enjoyed chatting with you also. I live up North, Englewood, OH. It is getting a bit chilly here. I'm off to my weight watchers class. I did start that up about 10 weeks ago. I have lost 7.6 pounds. It's another battle for me. I'm about 35 more pounds to go! Sometimes, I just go in and get weighed, if I'm not feeling well.

Sounds like you do need surgery. I know it's hard to do anything when you're in pain. My boyfriend is pretty good with me. I'm glad I have him to take care of me right now, since I'm not working. I never imagined it would get to this point. But I guess we have to do what we gotta do.

Thanks Denise. Mine goes down my left arm and in my shoulder, even my painkillers don't take it off so I'm actually hoping that he will operate! Don't think 've ever actually wanted surgery in all my life!

I live in the UK "up north" like you although in my case its West Yorkshire!

What type of shots do they give you,I cannot taake imitrex as I Have very high blood pressure with attacks.The only way out is Narcatics.........I Hate them.I like to find out what helps people and dosages as my doc is good at listenung.Now the er......depends

I get Torodol shots (anti-inflammatory drug) and phenergan. Works great. I can't take the Torodol tablets, they tear up my stomach! But if you can get your doctor to give these to you if it gets bad, it helps. But usually, like all pain meds, it only works for awhile. Then the migraine is back. I can't seem to shake them this last year has beenalmost daily. Good luck to you!

I've had sinusitis too, not nice, every movement causes the throbbing across your cheekbones and forehead, and like you say completely different to a migraine attack. Bed is the only place for me when an accute attack is raging. If I can stem it off with medication, all well and good but 9/10 times i can't.

same here...... and right now my ears and throat hurt bad......

 

but it could be worse..... at least i can get up and move around.

In my last reply I don't think I made it clear that it's a migraine attack that has me in bed, not sinusitis!

normally that is true for me too....... but ummmm infection has zapped my energy, so i am taking it easy. but thank you , i do feel better today
