I am also on topamax, lower dosage--25mg at night and 25mg in the morning.  I havent had any horrible side effects other then the hand and feet numbness/tingling.  If you cant keep any food down for the past 2 days---can you keep fluids down?? that long without being able to keep food/drink in your body can seriously deprive you of nutrients you need to feel better---sometimes when my nausea/vomiting gets out of control I have no option but the er to get some IV nausea meds in me to stop the vicious cycle.  I would call your doctor ASAP, and tell them your situation.

i have somewhat been able to keep down fluids. i was on topamax for 2 years and got off of it about a year ago due to no insurance. when i was on it before i lost 42lbs in 3 months. i just dont remember throwing up so much. that is my problem now i would go to the er to get put on iv but i have no insurance. the only way i am getting topamax is my doctor is giving me samples. its the only medicine that has ever helped me.

well, insurance should be the last of your worries right now (even though I know, realistically it determines your decisions).  I would call your doctor and see what he/she says.  If you need the er then use it. and let them know you do not have insurance, you need medical cost help--but right now you need to be seen. and be adamant. legally they can NOT turn you away...but like I said, I would call your doctor and see if there is anything he/she can do first??

I'm sorry your having a hard time.  Let me know how things go.  I'm at work all day so I will be popping in and out of the site.

good luck--chels

I would check with your doctor.

Does the nausea last all day? I remember when I first started Topamax that I had some sleep issues, but I don't recall nausea, just no appitite at all.

Check with your doctor about the nausea, maybe he/she can recommend something. Have you tried plain old Pepto?

As far as the sleep issues, check with your doctor/pharmacist and see if you can try Melatonin at bed time. It's an herbal suppliment and it also is good for migraineurs! I take it (or I did till Amitriptyline knocked me out at night). If that still doesn't help maybe he can script something, but hopefully by that time you will have adjusted to the topamax.

How is the Topamax working as far as the migraines go?

I am currently on topomax and started using it in June of 07'. I never experienced the side effects you are talking about, but I know that people have been known to have those. I did however have dizziness and a feeling of not being able to concentrate on things which was bad b/c I am in law school. Those side effects however, did go away if i recall within the first month of taking it. The only lasting side effect was that I lost about 30lbs in 3 months on it and I am still losing weight from it. I was told that this was because every time I upped my dosage I was suceptible to losing more weight. I started using 50mg at night before bedtime because otherwise I would fall asleep during the day and be very tired. I was currently up to 250mg until this past week because I found out that being up above 200mg interacts with birth control and I was down dosed back to 200mg. Topomax was a miracle drug for my migraines. I barely had any while I was on it and sadly I now have encounter my daily migraine cycle since the down dosage last week Sad. I also have polycystic ovarian disease so I need to be on my other medication as well so I am being switched this upcoming week to Zonegran. I am sorta upset since this worked so well, but hopefully this will provide the same relief. Hopefully Topomax will end up working out for you like it did for me...i LOVED IT! I would give it a shot for about a month b/c I think your side effects should go away, if not then talk to your doctor b/c some people can't tolerate it and that might be your case. GOOD LUCK!
