So far so good... My new medication regime is working. I have added Nortryptyline at night time.. only taking 20mg so far (am supposed to work up to btwn 30-50mg) in addition to my Topamax. It has rained a lot the last 2 days & no headache yet... and I played tennis yesterday & worked out really hard, which can sometimes trigger a headache, but nothing yet.
I am a little leery in a way to keep a diary like this, because in a way, it almost seems like writing about it just makes it "bigger"... I have always been of the mind set that what you think about is what you get... so the more you focus on something the more you will have that in your life-- not to deny that migraines exsist, but that if I write about them & analyze them, I am afraid that they will just get worse.
I had my meditation group today as well... We are reading "The Joy of Living"- our new book for next month.. it's written by one of the Tibetan monks who was part of the University of Wisconsin study about meditation & happiness... they actually found that meditators had larger parts of the brain activated for happiness while meditating than non meditators... and that they could teach new people to activate those same brain waves.
I am also leading a meditation group in 2 weeks... that should hopefully keep me focused on my own practice, as I have fallen off my practice at home. I think when I meditate I have less tension, I react to people differently & my goal is that I want my meditation practice to help me get fewer migraines as well.
