Hi my name is Gail. Im almost 30 years old. Ive suffered from terrible migranes for the past 8 months, Ive always had really bad heahaches though! But the migranes have become so bad that I actually think Im dying.
I have hemiplegic migranes! the last one I had beofre the last one a week ago was so bad i was ill for 4 days! Then I had a weakness all downt he right side of my body! I couldnt walk properly for 2 weeks, and after being hospitalised, and people thinkign Id had a storke, a CT scan later, a referral to a neurologist, and awaiting a MRI along with new meds. . I ws told I had hemiplegic migrane. Weakness away now, although Im told I still have some residual neurological signs!
Having visual disturbances all the time, cant cocnentrate, keep mixing my words up and generally dnt feel as though my brain and mouth are connected! Nobody (apart form you guys) has a clue what its like living with these! they r so debilitating. Ive been told to reduce my stress levels, but I find this impossible as I am a manager in a metal health project, and have a daughter with a learning disbility, adhd, epilepsy and challenging behaviour and a step duaghter with autism! lol
ANYWAY, so glad to have found this site, and lookf orward to chatting to u all!
Hope you have a migrane free day

I'm so glad you received my welcome and decided to SharePost. Thank you for sharing your story - a very full one may I add!
Hemiplegic Migraine is a rare form of Migraine disease. There are actually two sub-types: Familial Hemiplegic Migraine (FHM) and Sporadic Hemiplegic Migraine (SHM). Their symptoms can mimic some conditions such as stroke, epilepsy or other vascular diseases, which may make HM hard to diagnose. Our article, Hemiplegic Migraine - The Basics has information on symptoms, prevention and pain relief.
The best doctor to treat a patien with this kind of Migraine would, in my opinion, be a Migraine specialist. We have a few listed in the UK, and you can find that list HERE.
