Suffering Saturday

Well, if you've read my prior posts you know my life can be a little bit dramatic at times. Last week I hurt my back walking up and down the mountain I live on. I was concerned when some pain in the middle of my pain kept hanging on and breathing was difficult. So on Thursday I visited my gp and he says I have walking pneumonia - great. It only got worse yesterday and today. My sinuses are so plugged that my face, forehead, and...

Wednesday is Humpday Even When You Don't Go To Work Everyday

Wednesday can always be a difficult day for me, whether I am working or not. When my migraines are frequent life becomes a struggle just to get through each week - and that becomes my goal. Reflecting, I realize this isn't much of a life. I guess this is where depression meets migraines. I have researched depression and migraines and there doesn't seem to be a universal agreement about cause and effect. Does one cause the other or...

High Definition Televisions / Books on CD

Last fall we bought a high definition television. I was excited to get a new TV but disappointed when I found it made my headaches worse. I can only manage to watch it for a couple of hours, especially when I have a migraine. I have found an alternative. My vision tends to be affected by my migraines making it difficult to read or concentrate on things I need to look at. My alternative is books on CD. I received an MP3 player for Christmas...

Feeling Better on Sunday

So, I spent the week in bed with an injured back. My long walk on Tuesday got the best of me. It has stopped hurting continuously yesterday, but with a bit of walking it starts again. The good news is my headaches are somewhat better. I'm still experiencing my 4 am migraines. These drive me crazy. I wake up with the worst pain. In a panic I search for my headache medications and can usually abate it in about four hours. It's...

Injured on Wednesday

Well this has been an exciting -- or should I say interesting week. I was suffering Sunday and Monday and really started to feel better Monday evening. So, on Tuesday I decided to go for the gusto. I have become very inactive since I stopped working. I spend a lot of time in bed and find it difficult to do a lot of exercise. We've been doing a 1/2 hour hill walk several times a week, but when that's the only exercise and movement...

Just Another Manic Monday

It's just another crazy Monday. I'm still suffering the migraine that started yesterday. I woke up at 3:00 am with intense pain. I took a Zomig and some pain relievers at 3 am and then again at 8 am. I really hate migraines that last multiple days. I'm at the dopey stage right now, with minimal pain. I'm going to try meditating (using a guided visualization) to relieve the rest of the pain and hopefully make myself...

Insomnia - Sleeping Problems

If you've read any of my other posts, you'll know I struggle with sleep. I have suffered from insomnia for the past 5 or 10 years. I don't really remember when it started. Sometimes I have difficulty falling asleep and other nights, I fall asleep fine but wake up and can't get back to sleep. A migraine headache is usually what wakes me up. Taking sleeping aids helps but can propogate the problem. Too much sleep can...

Slower Sunday

Well so far today, I'm moving even slower than yesterday. I woke up with a terrible migraine. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get rid of it and had to cancel my massage appointment. I was in so much pain I wouldn't have been able to stand it anyways. So, I took some medications and slept until about 1 pm, when my husband started vacuuming in the bedroom around me. Men :) I guess that was my hint to get up. I'm up now...

Slow Saturday

Today was a nice day. I made it through the night without a 4 am migraine - a regular for the past little while. I took 2 Lyrica last night and that seemed to help me make it past the 4 am migraine. Unfortunately it was back at 7 am. I took a Zomig, T3, and Gravol, and managed to stay pain free all day. The down side is that the Lyrica makes me very tired if I take something like a T3 or Gravol which makes me tired. It seems to intensify...

Fabulous Friday

Wow, what a day! I left this morning at 7:30 am and didn't get home until 7:00 pm this evening. I have become a shut-in in many ways because we only have one car and live at the top of a mountain. A trip out, alone, especially for this length of time is an accomplishment. I started my day out at my family doctor's office. We discussed the Lyrica and have agreed it is working well. I am waking about 4 am with a migraine but...
