Getting Courageous

So I finally go up the courage to find a neurologist in my area. I call and they tell me I need a referral from my pcp. I tell them I just move to the area so they say to have my former neuro call. I havent had one before. I was waiting to move to find one so i wouldnt be bouncing around from doc to doc. They say find a new pcp and have them call. That is pure bull to me. Then I got shopping for a new pcp, ten calls later and im really frustrated. I finally find a pcp accepting new patients and they are forty five minutes away. They ask for a list of meds im on and I just have to laugh. So i start listing all my migraine meds im currently taking...the preventatives and fall backs etc. The nurse couldnt keep up. LOL.

So now I am waiting till friday to see a doctor to get a referral to see a neuro to treat my migraines.

FINALLY! The worst part of it is that I got a migraine from the stress of trying to find a neuro in the first place. Sometimes I wonder if this will even be worth it. Well, I guess i'll find out soon enough. Ill just have to keep up my courage and get it done in the hopes that I will find someone who can help me find a way to live pain free.

What a pain to have to find two doctors at the same time. I hope your PCP appointment goes well!

Hello, and how r u today? Fine, I hope :).I've been going through the exact same thing. You sure we're not twins? LOL Listen, if the Neurologist prescribes you Topomax for the migraines, please don't take them. I've heard many terrible things about it, and the side effects are very scary. It makes you loose weight (which is a plus in my book lol), but it causes confusion, you forget things alot and you loose taste for some of your favorite foods. It also makes you see flashing lights that arent even there. I know two people who've told me about this and I was freaked out. One of my friends was a math wiz, and after taking Topomax, she can barely do basic math well!!!! I also checked out many forums online on Topomax and they really made me rip my prescription up in tiny tiny little pieces. Before you take any meds do some research on them first before you try them. IMPORTANT-----Look for more natural herbs without side effects. I'm doing some research on Migraine Defense right now, I hope it's good, but I hear there might be some bad effects on it. Have you ever heard of Dr.Sebi? He's an herbal doctor. He've cured aids, cancer, anxiety, migraines, etc. I've heard him speak on a radio show in NY call Hot 97 and Lisa Left Eye Lopez (from the group TLC) spoke very highly of him. I heard he's the one who really cured Magic Johnson's Aids virus. I learned that migraines often come from our bodies telling us that it needs to be cleansed.
