Migraines 6 days a week

By Conrado Monday, April 13, 2009

I used to take triptans but the last 5 years I returned to ergotamine (I'm not happy with that).

Most of my migraines start during the night. I wake up with first symptoms and I get a tablet of ergotamine, sometimes two. If I stop the pain in a short time I can have a normal day.

Stress and fatigue are also very common triggers during the day.

No food triggers.

When I have a migraine I m too sensitive to noises and lights.

Most of pains are around my right eye but time to time is on the left side. It also happens to get a tension headache.

In the past I tried all kind of preventive treatments (like betablockers, flunarizine, etc...and even accupunture). Zero results.

Triptans worked well for a long time. Ergotamines works too but I don't like the side-effects (like the rebound effects and fatigue)

Do you know where to treat migraines headaches in Washington DC area?

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!

Thank you for creating a SharePost. SharePosts are a form of blogging, and there are many things you can do with them. You can share an experience, suggest something that's helped you, use SharePosts as a Migraine and headache journal, and many other things.

If we get more than three Migraine attacks a month, it is time to discuss preventive medications, in addition to abortives (like ergotamines) with our doctor. Yes, it's very easy to feel as if you've tried every preventive out there, but with over 100 medications in use for Migraine prevention and virtually endless combinations, it's literally impossible to have tried them all. Take a look at Migraine Preventive Medications - Too Many Options To Give Up!

It sounds like it is time to see a Migraine specialist. We have a list of patient recommended specialists you can see HERE. Unfortunately, we don't have a doctor in D.C. but there are other doctors you could travel to see. It will be well worth it to reduce the frequency of your Migraines.

We also have a discussion forum that you may want to check out. Especially if you have questions or are looking for information, you may find the interaction on the forum to be quite helpful. To get to the forum, just look for the orange box marked "Manage" and click on the Migraine Forums link. Because our forums are maintained by a third party, you'll need to register for the forum. You can use the same information you used to create your community log-in if you like. If you want to go directly to the forum, you can click HERE.

Along with your personal "My Home" page and the discussion forum, you'll find links to a great deal of helpful information and a spot to sign up for our free newsletter on the main page of our site, http://www.MyMigraineConnection.com.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post them to the forum or send me a message through my profile.

Welcome again,
