About Me

I am an award-winning screen writer with a movie currently in preproduction as well as being a classical cellist - with a duo - DuoWest.org (with piano) that tours throughout the southwest. I have severe migraine disease, often with periods of status migrainous that can only be somewhat relieved by week-long stays in the hospital or Ketamine at a clinic. Living with my migraine nightmare has affected every part of my life, from soup to nuts. I am not yet at the place where I am controlling the disease rather than the other way around. Recently chronic pain set off depression alarm bells with my neurologist team and I have been put on prozac. But it didn't work out - too many side affects. Ketamine treatments broke the cycle of status, but it did not last and I have a severe migraines many times a week now. I have two big rescued dogs who are great and a wonderful and a supportive partner without whom I could not make it through my fight with this awful disease. I cook and paint and used to be an avid gym rat until my migraine disease robbed me of that. Long walks with my dogs - which I love are my exercise now. I have been unable to get back to cardio at the gym. My many preventative regimens (topamax, depakatoe etc) do not seem to work well with me, nor occipital injections, or DHE infusions or hospital stays with medications around the clock. It is still a day to day existence with 24 hour a day aura. Things had gotten radically bad enough that I was off to see Dr. Krusz in Texas. His treament included ketamine and many other medications and he upped my lamictal (preventative) and seroquel to help me sleep - something I had a lot of problems with. I wish I had the financial ability to return to the clinic but since it was out of state and network, my ins. did not cover it. In fact as you all know this is a disease that takes many tolls including financial. I love writing my journal when I can and hope that you all enjoy it.
Teri Robert has been a supportive and irreplaceable friend through it all . For her information and proverbial shoulder to cry on I can only say "bless you." I apologize for spelling "writing" wrong in the caption to the picture with my screen writing partner. She is another supportive friend. It was a bad migraine day and I had no business writing captions and can't seem to edit it! Love to you all - from Migraineville AZ - off to do what I can for head banger - hugs
Ian
