I was dumb enough to mention to people, when this disease was quite new to me, what I had been diagnosed with. I was also dumb enough to think that normal people around me might have heard something about the disease and how others may have kicked it altogether. Needless to say, I have learned my lesson.
Reality came in the form of three co-workers. Two were contractors and one is my boss. The first co-worker's wife is a nurse. He said he had had migraines in college. He mentioned that he recently read an article that said that if you drink lots of water, migraines go away. hmmm. To this date, I have never found such an article.
He must have prepped my boss because my boss said the same thing. Or at least, he said he'd had a friend who had migraines and drank lots of water, and they went away. WOW! You cannot imagine the vast quantities of H2O I was guzzling for a good month or so. So many people cured by water, it must work, right?
A month later, after my mid-March attack, we went out to lunch and my boss asked me if my headaches had stopped. I said no, that I had just had one recently. A frown covered his face, "Are you drinking lots of water?" I nodded yes. That was as far as the topic went.
The other contractor believes that Reiki will save me. I tried to educate her, but she is stuck in the mid-90's. One day after taking Maxalt for the first time, she came to my cube where I was still suffering and I told her that the left side of my head felt like a cannon ball was inside. She told me to sit still (I certainly wasn't going anywhere) and turn around. For all I know, she waved her arms around me like a sorceress.
Doesn't work.

When I explained that sure, stress is definately a trigger, she told me I shouldn't go to school and work, I should just pick one. NICE. Don't pay my mortgage, or don't further my self so that I can eventually get paid better. AAUUGGHH!
Ignorant people come up with the MOST bizzaar things. As though, as a sufferer of migraines, you haven't tried EVERYTHING under the sun to make the pain go away. I even use aromatherapy in conjunction with my meds because it does seem to help, a little... and every little bit is a positive.
Ignore the people who don't know what they are talking about, my friend. They speak out of ignorance.
