Sunday, March 02, 2008 at 09:37 PMThanks for the imput. It makes me feel better to see someone real who has been on it and experienced it and the switch besides just the insert from a medication. I am supposed to be starting Zonegran Monday, I am just waiting on my doctor. I actually had to down my dosage of topomax from 250mg to 200mg last week and it was horrible. I can't remember one day I didn't wake up with a migraine and i was going insane! I was doing good when topomax was working at 250mg and I had no side effects, except weight loss. My doctor just didn't like that I was now entering a possiblity with a drug interaction so that is why he wants to switch me to Zonegran. I forgot what it was like to have daily migraines until this week....Thanks again for responding, I will let you know how it works out!

Friday, February 29, 2008 at 03:00 PMHello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!
I just started taking Zonegran for the second time. Lamictal didn't seem to be effective anymore, since I'm having a lot of Migraine pain lately. If I remember correctly Zonegran worked fairly well but I tapered off it because I thought it was worsening my depression. That turned out not to be the case, so I am giving it another try. I hope it works for you too.

Hi there!
Topamax, unfortunately, didn't work for me. Zonegran has worked for me, quite well. I had some pretty serious cognitive side effects with Topamax, severe enough that I had to stop taking it. Other than a slight stomach ache for a couple of days whenever we increased the dosage, I've had no side effects from Zonegran.
Our bodies all react so differently that the only way to know if it's going to be good for you is to try it.
Good luck. Hope it's THE preventive for you!
Teri
