I am Sue from Canada. I am almost 50 and have been married25 yrs to a husband who is wonderful. He is especially understanding ofmy migraines. We have one son,Alex, who is 17.He has ADHD andtourettes. The tourettes seems to be under control at the moment.
Hello to all my friends from the About site. I have missed you all! Hello also to the new folks here.
I have had migraines for close to 30 yrs. They have gotten worse as I go through peri-menopause. They are hereditary and hormonal. The migraines and other health issues have kept me from working thelast few yrs. Plus I do feel fortunate that I have been able to stayhome to care for Alex over the yrs.
I have several migraines a week. I take stemetol as apreventive. I normally take fiurinol and gravol at home. When they hangon for several days I go to ER for a shot of DHE and gravol. Up until afew weeks ago I had a standing order at the hospital for the shots. Butsome wise and all knowing individual at the regional level decided tostop this practice. I guess we,our Drs,& nurses are too senselessto know if it is a real migraine. I have no doubt some people have beenabusing the system and have ruined it for all pain sufferers. So now Iget to go and sit for several hrs under the florescent lights, etc andend up with a worse migraine than I started with.
My last migraine on Sunday was partially my ownfault. I couldn't resist the tin of chocolate icing. I KNEW better!!! Ican't remember when I had choc last and I know what a strong trigger itis for me. I have a lot of triggers, foods
cleansers,perfumes,smoke (I used to smoke 2 pks a day and I quit 15 yrs ago),environmental stuff.
Like many pain sufferers I suffer from anxiety and depression. My anxiety meds are being changed at the moment and I am not enjoyingthe process. For me there's not much worse than a horrendous migrainewith a panic attack on top of it!
My Mom's migs stopped with menopause and that is what I am praying for.
Take Care, Sue
