Introduction

By Antiquityhill Friday, December 14, 2007

Migraine attacks have been a part of my life for approximately 30 yrs. I have intractable migraine with and without auras, which are usually very profound and disabling, as well as Trigeminal Autonomic Cephalgias which include Hemicrania Continua and Chronic Cluster Headache. I also live with auto-immune thyroid disease and a rare movement disorder called Dystonia which complicates my treatment. I was recently diagnosed with macrocytic anemia for which I am taking B12 injections. I have many years experience as a patient of Allopathic, Osteopathic, Chiropractic, Homeopathic and Complimentary Medicine practitioners throughout the mid-western United States. My personal experience as a Veterinary Assistant as well as Reproductive Technician of champion Arabian show horses and dogs gives me a somewhat unique health care perspective, as does my experience as a CERT (Community Emergency Response Teams) Trainer and Manager and my work with local Emergency Management. I am currently a Migraine and Headache moderator of WEGO Health.

My home is in the country surrounded by the beautiful and picturesque rolling hills of Northeast Missouri where I live with my husband Dennis and 2 children, Aaron and Elizabeth. On any given day my home is filled inside and out with my own, or our "adopted" teenagers, cats, dogs (purebred Havanese and Huskies, rescues) and my beautiful horses. I enjoy working with youth and nearly all of my kids have gone on to compete successfully at the national level in various horse related activities. I enjoy research and learning for learning's sake and truly believe the old (horseman's) axiom, "Once you think you know it all, you have learned all that you will learn." Although my health issues have forced me to retire from my jobs as both an Equine Reproduction Manager and Emergency Dispatcher, I strive to maintain a positive attitude and sense of humor, and choose to use my unique experiences to help educate others as well as myself in our journey toward optimal health for better living. I enjoy participating in a number of boards including ChronicPainConnection and MyMigraineConnection.

I'm glad to be here and look forward to asking questions and telling about my own experiences with hope that together, maybe we can help each other find answers.

Hello, Ellen.  Even though you'd done Share Posts before, I'm glad you gave us a little background.

I hope you will join us on the discussion forum by clicking on Migraine Forums under the orange Manage bar.  I think you would find the information and support shared on the forums very helpful.  Registration for the forums is separate from the registration for this page.

Glad to make your acquaintance.  This web site certainly does have a lot of good info to help us out.
