Told Boss

By melkbak Friday, September 07, 2007
I can't believe I actually uttered the phrase "I don't think my puking will be conducive to my working." in response to my boss's comment, "You are coming in today?"  I do admit that this is the third day in a row that I have called in with a Migraine, but I cannot drive or work on my meds.  I did tell him that if it made him feel better, that I am scheduled to see the Headache Specialist next week.  It seemed to be of little comfort to him.

Are you taking the same triptan? Make sure to avoid MOH (medication overuse headache).

Also you mentioned it's been 3 days....have you had breaks in the pain? More then 4 hours when not sleeping? If not you need to seek medical attention if it's been longer then 72 hours. Here is a link to explain if you are not farmiliar with Status Migrainous:  http://www.healthcentral.com/migraine/types-of-headaches-39093-5.html

this is very serious. Please if this is what you are experiencing, call your doctor or seek medical attention ok??!!! Keep us posted too, Please??!!!

Thank you so much for your concern Eileen.  Yes, I am taking the same triptan (Maxalt), and I am having some periods of relief, just not long enough to suffer through the stress of driving to work and dealing with my boss (The man who claimed that the endometreosis that eventually led to my radical hysterectomy at the age of 35 was "all in my head"), and the fluorescent lights.  We are also experiencing a tropical depression in my area, which has become my biggest migraine trigger.  I have been waiting for four months to see the Headache Specialist that I referenced, and I am currently reading Terri's book, so that I will be prepared.  I am in pain but I remain optimistic that I can get this under control.  Thank you again and have a great weekend!  melissa
