Migraine Relief

By Dawsonjj Wednesday, February 25, 2009

I am not one who normally blogs on anything, but I want to tell you of my experience and how Migraines have all but disappeared. I am 61 years old, but as a child I suffered with them every week. I thought I had a brain tumor; I had them so frequently and with such intensity. I went through every test, I think known to man and as the Dr. (Internal Medicine Specialist) was reading the results to me in his Office I was having a migraine. Believe me, I wouldn't have been there, if I had known that every test came back negative. He could just have called. I went home with the advice that when I anticipated a headache coming on, to put this pill under my tongue to ward it off. One, problem. I couldn't always know and especially when I would go to bed at night feeling fine and wake up throwing up all over the place with my head hurting soooooo bad I didn't care whether I lived or died.

Several weeks after that one, I had another and I told my wife, I could not handle this anymore. I called up this chiropractor in the yellow pages. Why I settled on him I do not know. He told me he had retired, but in my case he would see me. There are apparently two types of teaching or maybe more on Chiropractic adjustments. This man had a table of which only the head portion of it moved. If your back was out of place or your hip, leg or anything else, he only adjusted the neck to fix the problem.

At this time, I was still having a migraine. He told me this first adjustment was going to hurt, because I was already in pain. I thought the top of my head blew off. But as I laid there for about an hour, the headache subsided substantially. He said, Jim, it is going to take two treatments per week for a year. They will then be totally gone. I stuck with it and he was right. I haven't had headaches like that again for forty years until recently. Even now, they are not the intensity they once were, and I can take an over the counter migraine medicine with an ice pack and they are gone in 4 hours.

He was a graduate of the Palmer School of Chiropractic. They believe the head has to be in alignment with the body. The other type says the body has to be in alignment with the head. And I had a friend of mine who was a Chiropractor that practiced the ladder, but he was not effective with migraines. I don't know if these schools are still out there, but I remember what the Doctor told me. You don't want one who practices both. They are not skilled well enough in the Palmer method of adjustments.

I hope this helps some of you. I can't say this is for everyone. But if you have had migraines like I have, you don't want to leave any stone unturned.
