Just wondering why I am in the middle of plastic surgeons/peripheral nerve specialist and neurosurgeons? They can't agree to help find relief for the patient. Twelve Drs. total they all say O.N. They all agree I have tried everything,they all agree I have not been helped by meds. The surgery [decompression] makes perfect sense to me. I am aware it is not approved,neither is the stimulator implant. Neurosurgeon wants to do implant, other wants to do decompression. Bcbs will only be advised by a neurosurgeon. Neurosurgeons do not do this surgery. I would much rather have a peripheral specialist who has done over 1,000 than a neurosurgeon who has done 30. I am so confused. I am in constant pain and feel like this is the most unknown condition that exists when you talk to a Dr about it. HELP
It is nice to see you again, but I am sorry to hear about your pain. I know if feels hopeless, and that you've tried every drug and seen every doctor. But have you seen a "real" Migraine specialist? I ask because not all neurologists are "headache/Migraine specialists. While they may say they are, it just isn't so. General neurologists treat so many different conditions (even those who claim to be headache docs) it is difficult for them to be experts in one area. And at this point that is exactly what you need - an expert who treats one disease- ours - Migraines and headache disorders. Does that make any sense?
Let me give you a little reading if you don't mind too much, and hopefully it won't trigger a Migraine? When you are done, let me know what you think ok? yes I have been to 2 different migraine specialist. They treated me exactly as the others. Script after script and nothing helps. The last one I went to said well I have nothing else I can do for you. Wow I said thats bad. I can't believe that in this day and age they don't have any access to the new treatments and or even want to hear. I asked him to just look at some info I found and he said what for , where did you get it from I said online. He said to me you know how much junk is on there. I said yes I do but this is a well known teaching hospital. Nope no interest. I fird him and am moving on.
