The Intruder

By laura vinton Sunday, March 21, 2010

Well, it's morning

My migraine woke me out of a sound sleep and settled in my brain

When this intruder makes its unwelcome visit

Of course it loves to come with its usual nausea and pain

What pretty pills I take

They come in all colors but their side effects are scary

My pain is unbearable

And my life is not like the show "Little House on the Prairie"

My trips to the emergency room are quite an adventure

I look disheveled and my clothes don't match

Of course I'm nauseated, and my husband brings my basin along with my towel

He sometimes has to catch

My doctor gives my migraines a lot of attention

He is doing his best to rid me of nightmares the best way

But these darn intruders are stubborn and insist on coming every day

Stop and listen you intruder

 Sooner or later

My botox injections will blow you away!!

i read your poem and can relate. I get terrible migraines that awaken me in the middle of the night, I am so sick of the pain and nausea. I used to get them only during the daytime but somehow something has changed and now i'm be awakened with them also. It seems to have a never ending cyle of pain. I wonder if it's my meds, and I'm trying to get into see my doc as I write this to find if a change is in order, I think i've been on the same ones for far too long. Have you had that problem?

I tried botoax many years ago and it worked for about 6 months but haven't tried it again. I was a lucky one who got it for free but now the cost is somewhat out of my budget. What else have you tried to help prevent the enving "wake up" calls? Good luck and my prayers are with you,
