Hot & humid

By oldandgraying Tuesday, August 19, 2008

Another hot and humid day, migraine not happy! I keep looking for another way to treat my migraines.  But have not been able to find one that will be accepted by my heart!  It was Imitrex when first came out in injection form, it was then that I discovered I could not take it, but because it was a wonder drug and no one had heard of any one having chest pain, it was put to me being in pain from the headache.  Thank God that they finally found out that not everyone can take it. It is like Compazine is good for the nausea, but again I can't take that or any phenothiazines.

So good people, I look daily for an answer for the other people like me who can't take the medication for prevention of the migraine!

Have a terrific day!

Preventive, abortive and rescue medications are very different. Imitrex is an abortive medication that stops a Migraine attack. This class of medications are called triptans and there are now eight of them:  Amerge, Axert, Frova, MaxaltRelpax, Zomig and the newest one Treximet.

Rescue medications are used when our abortives fail or we are unable to take them.  These medications include Fiorinal, Vicodin, Zanaflex and Phenergan. This article will help fill in the details for you about the differences:
