I have a sinus infection/bad cold.  Usually with these, I get a headache or migraine. The problem is, I don't know what kind of pain it is.  If I take the cold medicine, is does not alleviate the migraine or headache. If I wait a couple of hours and take my migraine med it does not alleviate the pain, either - which makes me thinks it's a sinus migraine or headache and needs a totally different approach, because I am a migraine sufferer.

Right now my head hurts so bad, I can barely stand it.  So as we approach cold/flu season, I thought I'd ask: what do you do?

For my part, I am going to ask my pharmacist if can I take them together (my cold medicine only indicates that I should not take another medicine with aspirin. My migraine medicine is Maxalt 10.)

I also have emergency medicine - when I have a migraine but I have taken all the Maxalt I can for the day.  In my case because I cannot take most narcotics, it's tylenol 3 with codeine, with the antinaseum promethazine on the side, just in case.  For the record I have not taken it.  I can't take vicadin or percocet because they make sick.  So if I take the tylenol 3  I don't what will happen.  I didn't get sick the last time, but that was over 20 years ago.  My doctor suggested we try it because it might be the safest thing - who wants to deals with migraines and naseau and vomiting?

By the way, while I know that is the norm for most of you, I am truly unique - I have non-classic no aura migraines: I am not sensitive to light, noise, or smells. I can literally wake up tomorrow with a migraine and will have had no warning sign.

Sorry for the rant.  Again,  I am going to call the pharmacist, but I wanted to know what other people did in this situation. I have an awesome neurologist - she even supports patients who want to use natural methods for treating their migraines, like butterbur, magnesium, and  Coenzyme 10. But I completely forgot about my winters and cold season and how to deal with this subject and so I did not ask her.

By the way I am taking the suggestion 300 mgs of magnesium - I had read it really helps.  So far however my migraines haven't decreased. but it's only been a little over a month and it's a vitamin, maybe just a little more time.

Yeah meWoot!

Thanks for any and all advice.  Stay blessed and healthy,
