Im so excited

By Lisa S Monday, July 11, 2011

Hey friends!  Im so excited to be going back to work tomorrow.  Im a little nervouse also.  But mainly excited.  I saw the nuro last Tuesday and he said that he wants to see me in a month.  We are seeing if the dosage of 2000mg a day of the depakot is working out for me, along with the nuraton (sorry for the spelling) of 1800mg twice a day are going well.  Im also going to be dropping down to 5 mg of steriods tomorrow.  I cant believe that I will be on that low dosage of steriods.  I started on 60mg for 5 days and then 40, 30, 20,10 and now 5.  I love finishing meds.  It means one less drug to take, hahaha.  My eye sight has been getting better every week.  I can now see the individul blade of the fan as they turn slowly!  But going back to work is the biggest and best thing that has happeneed since I got my eye sight in the left eye back.  I love being around ppl and my kids, but its time for me to go back.  My oldest son will be taking care of the other two childeren while Im at work ( for all 5 hours).  He's excited for me too.  I think its mainly to get me out of the house, but he has been great through this whole lost of eye sight thing.  He would read the mail, my email, and even the small print on the tv if I needed it.  I will be rewarding him with a day out with mommy alone.  I want him to know how much I appretiate him.  And my husband, WOW is all I can say.  He has been great through this whole thing.  Anyone who can cook, clean, and help in other areas and not complain about it, is pretty dang gone awsome.

I saw the eye doctor on Friday and he said that the nerves in the eye are hardest thing to heal and longest.  But the fluid and swelling are gone in both eyes and the retna  is back to where it should be.  I can hardly believe that on May 29th I was completely blind in one eye and foggy in the other.  Besides taking your meds right Im pleading to everyone to get an eye exam yearly like they say.  Ask questions about your meds all the time.  Dont just take a perscritption and think its okay to take it.  Ask about your levels, even ask for a liver check to make sure your meds are not toxic.  Mine where and Im now all about reading and asking about my meds.  I now have the shakes as a side effect of lowering the meds.  My eye doctor believes that it was being on high dosage of depakot was the problem.  I was taking 1250mg in am, 250mg in afternoon, 1000mg in the pm.  Im 4'11'' and was 145 now Im higher b/ c of the steriods.  Wish the weight would go away, but I understand it wont right away.

In closing, Im excited my life is getting back to some kind of normal.  My kids are seeing it.  Im leaving the house more often, and school will be starting soon.  Stay strong team and talk to you soon.Cool

Almost the end of my first week back to work
