Dr. John Claude Krusz, our Ask the Clinician here on Mymigraineconnection, was kind enough to spend some time with me while here in Boston, explaining a bit about the IV Therapy treatment he uses at his Dallas, Texas, clinic.   While at the 50th annual American Headache Soc...

I am one of the Dallas patients receiving Ketamine in Dr. Krusz' clinic and am seeing tremendous results in my headaches, fibromyalgia, allodynia, insomnia....I have been through so much in the last 20 years, which I will deal with in another post

    Hi Shannon!

I am so happy to hear Dr. Krusz is helping you. He is such a wonderful doctor. Are you also using the ketamine nasal spray as well?

I wish you much continued success. You have a wonderful doctor who thinks greatly of having his patients be a big part of their healthcare team. Laughing

I am so glad to hear that the Ketamine is helping.  Do you know the dosage that you are receiving and how often?  I have tried almost everything with very little results.  Thanks for your help.  Best wishes.

I can't speak for Shannon on her Ketamine dosage, but, from the week I spent observing in Dr. K's clinic, I can tell you that the dosage can vary depending on the status of the patient.

I'm working on a full article about the use of Ketamine. It should be up in the next week or so.

Not many doctors are using it yet, but there was a great deal of interest on the part of other doctors at the conference.

I can't wait for the article. My dr mentioned something about this Monday during my visit. It is something both of us are more interested in. He said he was going to do further research. He always has articles printed for me when I go in.

    Sherry,

    Your doc sounds great!

Did he attend the American Headache Society conference? If not, he may be interested in the article I'm working on. I'll be posting two research posters on Keatmine that Dr. K. presented at the conference.

No - he did not attend the conference.  But like I said, he does a lot of research and shares a lot of it with me. He says I am the most organized patient he has ever had. Smile

I have only been seeing him for 6 months, but I think he is the best one I've had so far and my search may be over - thank goodness!! I can't wait to check out the article.

    Happy 4th!!

I do know the dosages I am receiving, but not sure I should be giving that information out.   It is my understanding that the way people react to Ketamine varies greatly and what works for me may not work for anyone else.  Only Dr. Krusz can make that determination for you... Sorry I didn't have the answer you wanted just don't want to Foot in mouth

I have never heard of this drug being used for this until now.  Any information that I could pass along to my doctors would have been helpful.  Good luck.

    NeverEnding,

I'm so glad you're regaining hope. I remember all too well what's it's like to feel that there is no hope, and it's the worst feeling. I can promise you two things...

    1) There IS hope.

    2) You are not alone in this.

    Best,

    Teri

    Hopeful,

When I get our article done and published on this site, it will have links to a couple of Dr. K.'s research posters on ketamine. Both the article and posters should be good resources for your doctor.

I am looking into this drug for my son; he has severe migraines as a result on a neck injury.  I was wondering if you also have neck issues??  does this work with most severe pain issues??  Beth

Depending on what your insurance is would depend on if going to Dr. Krusz would be athorized. As far as I know, this office does not have any contracts with insurance companies, so it would probably be considered out of network. The staff will provide you with the paper work to file to your insurance on your own.

As far as the cost, I am not familiar with the cost of this particular treatment, nor do I know of anyone else who does IV Ketamine Therapy.

On a first visit to Dallas to Dr. Krusz, I believe he sees you over a period of two days, but then again, every person is different and has different needs.

I personally have not heard of this treatment for anything other than Migraine, but that does not mean that it does not exist.

In order to get an appointment, you would need to call the clinic.
