Two Weeks on Inderal

After my "drug holiday", my doctor decided to try me on Inderal as a preventive. I started out taking 1/2 a 10mg pill in the morning, and again in the evening. Now, I am up to one 10mg pill in the morning and again in the evening.

I have to say, so far, I feel pretty good! The Inderal does make me a tad dizzy from time to time, and the first few nights on it I had horrible nightmares, but yesterday was my first touch of...

A Drug Holiday

I went to my neurologist last week and we decided I would go on a drug holiday. It sounds much more glamorous than it really is.

Enter - daily migraines! I was doing well while on the Topamax and Amitriptyline, but there were some side effects that I could no longer deal with.

From the Topamax, I got side effects consisting of: no libido, overheating and not being able to sweat. We have an article about Topamax and the sweating...

Dr. Krusz Talks about IV Therapy with Ketamine.

Dr. John Claude Krusz, our Ask the Clinician here on Mymigraineconnection, was kind enough to spend some time with me while here in Boston, explaining a bit about the IV Therapy treatment he uses at his Dallas, Texas, clinic.

While at the 50th annual American Headache Society conference, Dr. Krusz had three scientific posters up for display, two of which are part of this great video Dr. Krusz was more then...

Last day of sessions.

Hey, gang! I do have some more stuff coming to you from Boston in the near future, but I can't seem to get my little video camera to work on my laptop right now! Of course when it's something you are really excited about, technology fails on ya!

We had an awesome session this morning. It was all about how patients need to be an active role in their healthcare team and how doctors can help facilitate that. Teri is working on a wonderful...

Boston - Day Two

Today is our second day here at the conference. We woke up early again today to go to a satillite symposium on Conventional Management and Novel Modalities for Improved Treatment of Chronic Migraine. One of the speakers at the session was Dr. Richard Lipton who is a chairperson on the AHS.

The session was about tracking Migraine from low-frequency episodic Migraine to chronic Migraine and how to reduce attacks to bring chronic Migraine...

Update from Boston!

As I'm sure you all know, I was super excited to be able to accompany Teri on this trip to Boston for the 50th Annual American Headache Society conference. We arrived yesterday, but the conference itself didn't get going until today.

Let me just tell you what we did. We woke up and got down to a breakfast satellite symposium at - 6 am! It was called Brains, Sex Hormones & Women: Neural Mechanisms of Migraine. It was about...

A reminder.

I wanted to remind us all to be good to ourselves, especially as this hot summer season approaches!

Some of us take medications that can cause us to potentially over heat quickly. I myself take topamax and I find in the summer, I have great difficulty in the heat because of this.

Also - remember to stay hydrated. No need to bring on a migraine over dehydration. I always have a bottle of water with me, especially now! I avoid...

I think the perfume issue is handled

For those of you who have been following my perfume issue at work, I think it's finally handled. The situation reached it's breaking point last week when my boss was on vacation. Perfume girl wore perfume three times that week. The first day I didn't say anything, thinking it's Tuesday, coming off of a long weekend, she probably just forgot. Then Wednesday happend and I spoke with my supervisor about it.

My supervisor spoke with perfume...

How far do I have to go?

As some of you who frequent the forum may know, I've been dealing with an issue at work. There is an employee in my office who wears perfume that is a very big trigger for me.

I have spoken with her about this, my boss has discussed this with her at length. Yesterday, she wore it again. This was the second time this week. I have now popped a Frova again this morning to get rid of a migraine that was triggered yesterday from said...
