My husband and I have come to the conclusion that I need to go a headache specialist
. I live in Metro Detroit area. I don't mind a fair amount of driving for a good clinic. Does anyone have any recomendations?
A little introduction. I started with migraines 20 months ago. With just a few a months after coming off of Depo-provero (birthcontrol shot). My primary dr. giving me maxalt to help me with my migraine. They worked wonderfully. Except they started getting worse until my obgyn put me on bith control again. This made it a little better but not much. Now that I off completely the migraines and tension headaches are uncontrable. The last 2 months I don't remember a day without having any a headache.
I have been on tomopax for 6 weeks. Slowly working up to 100 mg. With the only major side affect being some depression. Also maxalt and imitrix have not been working like they use to.

Kristin,
Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection!
Consulting a Migraine specialist is a good decision. Something I'd like to suggest is that you look for a particular doctor, not necessarily a clinic. In my opinion, the expertise of the doctor who will be treating you is the most important consideration. We have a listing of Patient Recommended Specialists that may be helpful to you.
I've been very successful seeing Dr. William B. Young in Philadelphia and Dr. John Claude Krusz in Dallas.

Teri,
Thank you so much for your response.
I just made an appointment with a clinic in Ann Arbor MI before reading your response. But found with great relief that the 2 doctors recommend are the dr. I will be seeing.
I also picked your book up at Borders the other day before stumbling onto this sight. I think now I will pick it up again and read it!
Thanks again.
