I had these many years ago. They were quite infrequent but when they increased in frequency (every other day) - it was quite disturbing and I searched to find the answer. I had a "hair-analysis" taken and they found that the levels of copper & mercury were "off the chart" in my body. In my attempt to eat healthier I was eating "top of the food-chain" fish i.e. tuna, shark, swordfish etc. I was perscribed homeopathic medication that chealeted the metals from my system and the optical migrains slowly went away and stayed away for several years until today. I'm not sure what is causing them now, I had a very stressful day today and worked on the computer too much. BTW I don't eat those types of fish anymore ~ but I am once again searching for answers.
Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com
We can't diagnose becasue we are not medical professionals, but we can give you information and support. "Optical Migraine" is not a recognized diagnosis by the International Headache Society's International Classification of Headache Disorders. Rather, Migraine with aura, or Migraine without aura, acephalgic migraine with aura are some classifications. This article Ocular, Optical, and Ophthalmic Migraines, will get you started.
