Of course, that train of thought got me to thinking what my kids do have, in spite of, or because of, a mom with chronic pain and all that goes with it. A house full of animals. Good diets, full of organic and whole foods, fruits, veggies, and other good things. Lots of playing outside. Baking with mom, gardening, and learning about plants. Road trips, visits to sheep and wool festivals, and all sorts of other things. The biggest thing, though, is that my kids learn compassion. They learn that no matter what, mom is always here for them. Maybe that isn't so bad. Maybe, if there is a plus side to chronic pain, this is it.
And scented markers. I was pretty excited about that.

Thanks so much for this wonderfully grounded post. Chronic illnesses and diseases cost us a lot; they cost our family a lot. But your love for your kids and the wonderful life you've built for your family despite all of this just shines through in your post, and I thank you for this breath of fresh air.
I'm sorry thing have been so rough for you. If there's ever anything at all I can do for you, I hope you'll let me know.
Thanks again,
Teri
